Important and exciting news for the

Steampunk NZ Fashion Showcase 2026!

 

Steampunk NZ Festival culture has always showcased ingenuity and creativity at adapting and elevating the everyday into the amazing. 

 

Fully embracing this ethos of up-cycling, reusing, and recreating, the 2026 Steampunk Showcase requires that a significant component of any outfit entered is made from items or garments that you have refashioned into something new

– rather than purchased ready made.

 

We are looking for adaptations and inspiration: ball gowns from bedspreads, tailcoats from curtains, bustles from duvet covers. We’d love to see your greatest creation from your most exciting op shop find, or from a neglected wardrobe castoff, saving fabric from landfill along the way.

 

Accessorising with non-fabric elements is strongly encouraged – think wires, gadgets, and repurposed gizmos.

Please note you may be required to take a photos of your ’before’ as part of the pre-event selection process.
